The Valley County Livestock 4-H members invite you to support the 4-H Livestock program by purchasing an animal at the Market Animal Sale on August 6th at noon. 4-H members bring their beef, sheep, swine, goat, rabbit, or poultry project animals to the fair to have them judged for quality and showmanship. They then sell their animals at auction to community businesses or individuals. The sale is an important part of the educational experience for the 4-H youth. The youth learn firsthand what it takes to raise a market animal, to keep records, manage a small business enterprise, and learn day-to-day responsibility of animal husbandry.

Why buy an animal at the 4-H Sale? 

1. Many youths use the money to save for future educational goals.
2. Local advertising that may be tax deductible
3. Excellent locally grown meat

How to buy at the Market Animal Sale

1. Check in with Sale Committee after the BBQ.
2. Bid on animals of your choice. If you are unable to be present, we can provide a bidder for you.
3. Purchase for home or business. Sale committee members make arrangements for slaughter and delivery to meat packer for nominal fee. Buyer pays for all cutting and wrapping charges.
4. If you wish to support 4-Hers but do not want the meat, you may purchase and resell for market price. Buyer pays the difference between bid price and market price. Animal is resold at market price back to the youh who raised it or to another 4-H family.
