In July, we will feature two guest artists and two new members. Our first guest Tim James Bower specializes in photographic manipulation, using techniques to sweep color across a field of sunflowers or to put an ancient building into motion. Our second guest Jesse Swickard is a sculptor working in welded steel, who has installed many beautiful works of public art in the Pacific Northwest. For the gallery, he will be exhibiting smaller sculptures just right for the office or home. New member photographer Doug Young brings years of experience living, working and making photographic art in Idaho. His dramatic black and white images clearly demonstrate the influence of great artists like Ansell Adams and Dorothea Lange. We also welcome Nellie and Clair Bowman of Bowman Woodworks to the gallery. They love wood, and you can tell. You’ll want to come in to see Nellie’s pyrographic images of the natural world on cherry, maple and other woods and Clair’s furniture and creations of exotic woods, such as fabulous inlaid breadboards. Please join us to meet our artists at a reception on second Saturday, July 8, 4-7 p.m., with live music.
View Tim’s, Jesse’s, Doug’s and Nellie and Clair’s work and the work of over twenty regional artists at Gallery 55 during the month of July. The gallery is open 11-5 daily.
