Join instructor MaryAnn Walker for a fun introductory course in the folk dance of Clogging. Clogging is the original American folk dance. It was originally done with wooden soled shoes to get the desired sound, but now is done in dance shoes with double toe taps and on the heel. Clogging steps are a combination of toe and heel movements keeping the rhythm of the music. It’s fun and doesn’t feel like exercise, but clogging burns about 400 calories an hour and can improve blood pressure, endurance, strength, muscle tone, flexibility, and coordination. Clogging is done to all kinds of music from traditional American folk, to modern country, to Jazz and upbeat modern music. Clogging knows no age limits and often you will see all ages dancing together.
Limited Clogging shoes will be available for use.
