RAD After School Poetry – Creative Writing Class

May 22, 2024 @ 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm | $20
Creative writing for ages 10-15 years old
with Renée Silvus
Wednesdays in May
May 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd
3:30 - 4:30 pm
CUB 114 N 3rd St McCall

Break out your curiosity and writing muse for a turbo-charged month of poetry.

We’ll start with you–what do you enjoy about poetry and what would you like to explore?

Using your requests, we will:

  • Look at some bright and beautiful poems to help inspire you.
  • Play with writing prompts to discover your own ideas and refine your style.
  • Identify ongoing writing topics in your life.
  • Engage with the practice of journaling.
  • Review and play with conventions in poetry.
  • Practice being respectful and supportive as we share.

Please bring a notebook or journal and your favorite pen or pencil. We’ll use pen/pencil and paper in our sessions; at home you are encouraged to use a keyboard device to stretch and refine your writing.

Your instructor, Renée Silvus, taught high school Language Arts for seventeen years. She developed and taught creative writing classes in two high schools for all kinds of eager, lazy, lost, and amazing teenagers.
