Join Dr. Amy Canfield for a presentation on the long fight for women’s Suffrage. The fight for women to achieve voting rights is a long history with various setbacks and achievements. From women’s roles in the Revolutionary War to suffragists getting arrested while protesting outside of the White House, the story of women’s suffrage reflects changing ideas of natural rights and citizenship.
Amy Canfield is a professor of history at Lewis-Clark State College. She earned her PHD from Washington State University in 2008. She teaches courses in women’s history, American Indian history, history of the American West, and US popular culture. She has published articles in the Pacific Northwest Quarterly, Journal of the West, Idaho Yesterdays and the Journal of American culture, and also served as a consultant for the Center for the State of Parks, conducting cultural resources assessmentson the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail, Grand Canyon Nation Park, Vicksburg National Military Park, and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
