Spring fever has set in…a fever for more snow! Warmer spring temps turn groomed trails into creamy corduroy and sunny days means you have lots of ways to soak up that Vitamin D. Here are a few of our favorite ways to enjoy spring in McCall:
#1 NORDIC SKIING
A fresh groomer is a staple in McCall and something we have plenty of! Wind through rolling meadows or Ponderosa forests. Take a leisurely scenic route or get your heart pumping with a hill climb. Enjoy outstanding skiing at Ponderosa State Park, Jug Mountain Ranch, Bear Basin, Tamarack Resort and the Activity Barn. Check the grooming report before you go!
#2 SNOW TUBING & SLEDDING
If cabin fever threatens, get the entire family out to play! Ride up the magic carpet at the Activity Barn to fly down the 800-foot hill on a snow tube. The hill is open until 9pm on Friday and Saturday and lit for night tubing as well. For a quick sledding adventure, try Legacy Park in downtown McCall. The gentle slope is perfect for the little ones!
#3 SNOWSHOEING
Blaze your own trail on a pair of snowshoes! Whether you leave right from your back door or jump in the car to get to your adventure starting point, snowshoes are one of the best ways to get out and enjoy the spring snow. Need to rent a pair? Try Gravity Sports in downtown McCall.
#4 FAT BIKE RIDING
The wide tires on a fat bike make it a perfect choice for soft spring conditions. Find designated fat biking trails at Jug Mountain Ranch and the Activity Barn. Fat bikes are also a great way to get around town after a spring snow or when dirt roads are soft and saturated.
#5 SKI & SNOWBOARD
Our Alpine areas are open well into the springtime! While it may rain in the valley, the higher elevations delight in fresh snow perfect for spring skiing. This is also the time of year for annual events like pond skimming, Easter egg hunts and more.
#6 APRES SKI
Apres ski lives on in the spring! After an adventure in the spring snow, gather the troops and enjoy the delicious fare and local brews. From tasty take-out to casual fine dining, McCall has something for everyone!
