Our club was organized and chartered in 1949 and is the largest and most active club in Valley County. We meet Wednesday’s at noon at the beautiful Shore Lodge and I challenge anyone to match the view at our weekly club meetings. We also pride ourselves on carrying out the Rotary theme of Service Above Self. Some of our annual local and International projects we work on and support include: Selling carnival beads and chorizos at Winter Carnival; Supporting all graduating seniors continuing their education at a college or vocational school with a book scholarship(Cascade, McCall, and New Meadows schools); Supporting some graduating seniors with academic scholarships; Working with POTS students (Positive Teen Outdoor Service); Supporting Backpack Program that sends food home with needy kids; Support Woodstock, Annual firewood campaign for needy residents; Support students participating in Little Ski Hill after school PLCA After School Program; Shelter Box-International project; Camp Invention; Rotary Park maintenance; Wagon Wheel Road clean up. We also donate a book each week to our local elementary school library. We purchase books they cannot afford and we have our weekly speaker sign the inside cover on a label that includes the Four Way Test. This is done in lieu of a pen or mug for our speakers and they seem to enjoy it. The McCall Club currently has two couples that travel frequently to Ecuador and Peru to participate in International Rotary projects. Our club budgets support one International project annually. Our club sent two kids to RYLA this past summer and we are active with our local Interact Club at the high school. The McCall Club hosts inbound Rotary Youth Exchange students annually and has been known to have four outbound at one time. We again have candidates this year for outbound and are currently hosting a young man from Italy. As can be seen, our club does indeed make a difference in our beautiful community.
