Founded with a profound commitment to animal welfare, MCPAWS Inc. has been a pillar of support for pets and their owners in our community since 1998. What began as a humble shelter has evolved into a multifaceted organization dedicated to transforming lives by strengthening the human-animal bond.
MCPAWS is the only no-kill, humane animal shelter in the West Central Mountains of Idaho. In addition to providing adoption and return-to-owner services for cats and dogs, MCPAWS provides low-cost microchipping, TNR (Trap/Neuter/Release) services for the community (aka feral) cats, and same-day pet ID tags. All animals at the shelter are neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before being adopted.
MCPAWS also believes that no animal should be surrendered just because of the cost of care for pets, so we offer several services to assist community members going through financial hardship: low-cost spay/neuter services, free pet food bank, and Gracie’s Fund at MCPAWS Veterinary Hospital to help cover veterinary care for owned animals. We have also partnered with Home to Home – an adoption program that allows pets to be adopted directly from their current owner into a home, which keeps them out of the shelter.
MCPAWS is a nonprofit organization that relies on private donations, grants, government funding, and fundraising events to fund operations. In addition to the animal shelter, we have the MCPAWS Veterinary Hospital and MCPAWS Thrift Store. All net proceeds from these businesses come back to fund operations and programs at the animal shelter.
